Purpleheart - Peltogyne
Found in Central and South America and prized for the rich and vibrant color of its heartwood, Purpleheart hardwood is bright violet or purple when first cut. With exposure to ultraviolet light it darkens to a deep purple then eventually to a dark purple cast brown. Mostly a straight and even grained wood which is very hard and dense. Makes a beautiful looking and sounding pick.
